Accessibility

JY Concepts wants Every Instrument to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we do
- Pages work with a keyboard, with a “Skip to content” link and visible focus outlines.
- Text and buttons meet contrast guidelines in light and dark mode, with buttons at least 48 pixels tall.
- Every song’s notes, tabs, fingerings and words are regular text on the page, readable without JavaScript.
- Boomwhacker colors always come with the note letter, so color is never the only clue.
- The note being played is highlighted by a box and a background, and the highlight stops moving if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Text can be enlarged with your browser’s zoom without breaking the layout, down to a 320-pixel-wide screen.
Known limits
The staff notation is drawn as an image by your browser and isn’t readable by screen readers; the notes as letters, numbers or tabs are always regular text above it. Recorder fingering pictures have a text description. The player needs JavaScript.
